About the Artist

Candace Kahn has always loved nature and the outdoors. Growing up on the North Shore of Long Island, NY, she spent her summers in and around the water. As a young mother she and her family lived in rural Virginia in the foothills of the Shenandoah mountains. It was here Candace’s love of horses and the mountains inspired her passion for trail riding and the sport of endurance.

Her discovery of kilnformed glass in the year 2000 awakened another passion. Working with glass fulfills her love of color, light and form she observes in nature. Candace loves the complexity of patterns and the way light either reflects or passes through glass such as can be found when light shimmers through the woods or bounces off the ocean waves.

Candace has studied with several well-known kilnformed glass artists and loves to experiment in her own studios. She has won awards for her work and was a founding member of AMBUS Art, a gallery in Jacksonville, OR.

When asked what inspires her work Candace says, “As I move through life and see beautiful patterns I envision those patterns or designs in glass. When I see the beautiful texture of a cliff wall or the unique pattern of the bark of a tree, I ask myself, ‘How can I recreate that in glass?’ I always want to create unexpected and exciting patterns of glass that I can then use to create vessels and sculptures.”

Candace works exclusively with Bullseye glass in her studios and all works are original and are copyrighted to the artist.
