“Supernova” was designed and created by glass artist Candace Kahn using a kiln-forming technique called Under Pressure.
This vivid art glass bowl explodes with gorgeous rays of gold purple irid and pumpkin orange glass. “Supernova” was created using a kiln-forming technique called Under Pressure. For this piece 108# of kiln shelves and kiln bricks were placed on top of the arranged glass pieces and fired to a temperature of 1590 degrees. After 30 hours the flatted piece was cold worked and slumped into a mold to create this gorgeous bowl. Signed by the artist.

Under Pressure is a kiln-forming method in which weight and temperature is used to transform stacks of cut sheet glass into richly colored thin bodied pieces. This method’s use of compression transforms small glass pieces into larger glass works of exquisite thinness and color.
